JEOPARDY host Ken Jennings has dismissed two players' answers for being wrong on a technicality on tonight's episode.

Jeopardy Champions Wildcard contestant Josh Saak managed to score a win by the skin of his teeth on Monday's show.

Midway through the second round of the Jeopardy! Champions Wildcard Tournament semi-finals, Josh and his fellow competitors- Kendra Blanchette and Dane Reighard- got stumped on a clue.

The clue that had the players struggling was from the category Kickin' Aztec.

Dane picked the $1,000 question that threw him off his game.

"The Aztecs founded two cities where Mexico City now stands: Tlateloco & this one, their capital," Ken, 49, read to the contestants.

Kendra buzzed first, answering: "What is Tenochtitlan?"

Ken, 49, took a long pause, appearing to stop the game for a ruling on her response.

After a moment, Ken said no, not approving her answer as correct because she mispronounced it.

Kendra lost $1,000 of the $5,200 she earned by that point, which took her down to $4,200.

Josh then answered the same: "What is Tenochtitlan," pronouncing his answer differently.

"Ugh, I'm gonna say no," Ken replied, causing the crowd to laugh.

Josh went from $1,400 to $400 after this.

Dane didn't answer, shaking his head no to signal that he didn't know the right choice, keeping him in the lead with $4,000.

"Kendra, you were closer, but I think you dropped a 'T'," Ken said, repeating the word properly as he explained why she didn't get the clue right.

Despite Josh being knocked down during the Jeopardy! round, he managed to come out victorious in the end.

Josh was in second place in the Final Jeopardy round, with $12,200 in the game show bank.

COMING OUT ON TOP

Meanwhile, Dane was in first with $14,400, and Kendra was in last place with $10,200.

After Josh correctly answered the last question in the final round, his score went up to $14,405 since he had waged $2,205 of his earnings.

Dane, however, fell from grace, getting pushed down to second place after he answered wrong and lost the $7,000 he waged.

His ending score was $7,400.
