FOODIES have been left horrified after TV chef Mary Berry used white wine and double cream in a spaghetti bolognese.
Viewers of her new cookery show claim they were “shocked and appalled” by her twist on the dish — which did not even use spaghetti.

And others claimed to be so outraged they were forced to switch it off.
The former Bake Off judge, 81, used the unfamiliar ingredients on BBC2 show Mary Berry Everyday.
As she prepared the bolognese ragu with pappardelle, Mary said: “White or red, whatever you’ve got to hand — although I really prefer to add white.

“There’s never any left in our household. I might even have to open a bottle especially.
“My secret is to make it even richer by adding double cream, it just enriches it.”

But viewer Alex Preston said on Twitter: “Shocked and appalled about Mary Berry adding double cream to her bolognese.”
Another said of Monday night’s episode: “Just watched a cooking programme where Mary Berry put white wine in bolognese. Turned it off.”

Meanwhile, another tweeted: “I can’t cope with Mary Berry’s bolognese recipe. She used white not red wine. She cooks it in the oven. There is thyme but no basil.”
And Nella De Luca said “clearly a long career in baking has taken its toll”.
Mary was also criticised after last week’s series opener for featuring pricey posh nosh, including lobster, in a show about “everyday” food.
