THIS is the dramatic moment armed cops broke into a house after a 22-hour standoff with a man "wielding a gun" in Southall, London.

The man was arrested following the armed deadlock with the officers - which started to unfold yesterday afternoon.

Cops were called to Saxon Road yesterday afternoon just after 2pm to reports of a man with a firearm.

The man refused to come out of the property when asked, according to police reports.

Surrounding streets, including West End Road and Beconsfield Road, were closed as a precaution.

A witness told MyLondon yesterday that there were "more than 50-60 police" carrying guns in the area.

The ordeal was finally brought to a close 22 hour later.

Today, a squad of armed officers were seen breaking the downstairs window of the property, ripping down the curtains, and busting open the front door.

The Met Police said today: "A man has been arrested following an incident in Southall.

"Police were called to Saxon Road at 14.12hrs on Thursday, 21 January, following concerns for the welfare of a man inside a property.

"A number of resources were sent to the area in a bid to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

"This included specialist firearms officers as a precautionary measure.
